By the time June rolls around, most of us are craving a little more peace, a little less pressure, and maybe a pitcher of sweet tea on the side. But if you’re a Christian woman building a business, summer isn’t always slow. It’s more like… “How do I stay focused, follow God’s lead, and not completely melt into a puddle of overwhelm?”
So instead of trying to “do it all,” here are 7 simple habits you can weave into your summer that’ll actually help you build a business that’s led by the Holy Spirit.
1. Morning meetups with God before the group chat
Before you open social media, check emails, or scroll to see what everyone else is doing… pause. Summer mornings hit different when you start ‘em with Jesus. Whether it’s journaling on the porch, praying through Psalm 1, or just sipping coffee and being still — start your day asking Him what He wants you to focus on.
Pro tip: Your to-do list will shrink when you stop putting things on it He never asked you to carry.
2. One “no” a week
Bold of me, I know. But if the Holy Spirit is leading, that means you’re not. You can’t say yes to every collab, coffee date, or “quick” favor. Every week, give yourself permission to say no to something that feels good but isn’t God. That “no” may be the exact thing that makes space for what is.
3. Sabbath like you mean it
Yes, even when you’re in launch mode. No, you won’t lose momentum. In fact, building rest into your rhythm is a power move. Light a candle. Play worship music. Take a nap. Let rest be an act of obedience, not a luxury you “earn.”
God’s been working while you’ve been sleeping since Genesis. You’re allowed to sit down.
4. Take your quiet time offline
No shade to the Bible app, but this summer is calling for less screen time and more actual pages. Read your Bible outside. Doodle your prayers. Tape a verse to your desk. Don’t overthink it — just get His Word in front of your face and your work will start to shift.
5. Keep a “God told me” list
You ever get those Holy Spirit nudges and then forget them three days later? (Raises hand.) Keep a running list. Whether it’s in your Notes app or an old-school notebook, write down the ideas, prompts, scriptures, and convictions you know didn’t come from your own brain. That’s the strategy you’re building from.
And trust me — when doubt creeps in, flipping through your list will shut it down quick.
6. Talk to God like you talk to your business coach
Listen. If you can voice memo your coach with a 3-minute rant about why your funnel’s flopping, you can talk to the Lord about it too. He actually cares more than your coach does (and won’t invoice you for it, either). Make prayer your first move — not your last resort.
Also? God gives better conversion strategies. Just sayin’.
7. Build margin on purpose
You weren’t made to be booked and busy all summer long. Block off random Fridays. Take a half-day. Intentionally plan for a slow week when your calendar’s empty (because if you don’t plan rest, the enemy will gladly fill that space with anxiety). Margin is ministry. Protect it.
Less Hustle, More Fruit
The Holy Spirit doesn’t need you to hustle harder — He needs you to listen. These habits will help you make room for God to actually lead the business you say is His. So, if you’re looking for a “hot girl summer,” maybe try a Holy Spirit one instead.
