Entrepreneurship has its perks (hello, flexible schedule and building something that’s truly yours). But let’s be honest: it can also feel really lonely. You’re sending invoices, juggling client work, trying to market yourself…all while sitting behind a laptop wondering if you’re the only one who feels like this is a lot. Well, community is what makes the difference. It’s the strongest support system you can have as a business owner.
Research Says Connection Wins
The Kauffman Foundation’s FastTrac program shows how peer learning and entrepreneur networks help business owners access resources, sharpen their skills, and keep moving forward.
According to the Gallup State of the Global Workplace report, people with strong social connections report higher engagement and well-being. Entrepreneurs don’t have built-in coworkers, which makes outside connections even more important.
The Gallup/Meta Global State of Social Connections found that feeling connected increases resilience and lowers stress. For business owners, that resilience can be the difference between pushing through or burning out.
“Isolation drains creativity. Community multiplies it.”
Why It Matters for Creatives
For Christian women in business, community isn’t just networking — it’s having people who:
Keep you accountable when your motivation dips.
Share wisdom from mistakes you don’t have to repeat.
Remind you setbacks are normal (and not the end of the world).
Pray for you and with you when you’re too tired to pray for yourself.
Communities I’m Leaning Into
Since the end of 2024, I’ve been intentionally putting myself in spaces that understand what it takes to build a business:
Freelancing Females: a membership for women freelancers. I’m new here, but already seeing the potential of connecting with a network built for women working independently.
The Growth Tribe: a community focused on growth strategies and accountability for business owners who are ready to scale.
Even just exploring these spaces has reminded me that entrepreneurship doesn’t have to feel like a solo climb.
A Biblical Reminder
We weren’t designed to build alone. “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor. If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.”Ecclesiastes 4:9–10
Community is God’s design…a safeguard against burnout, pride, and the temptation to believe we have to do everything ourselves.
